When I was a child, my father always liked to knit in the evenings watching television, especially in the winter. I use to watch him wondering if I could maybe learn to knit myself. It looked fun! So when I was seven years old, I asked my dad to teach me how to knit. With my father's encouragement; I finally mastered how to knit in a straight line without dropping stitches. The first thing I made was a scarf and I've been knitting here and there ever since. My mother was an immense encouragement to me as a child in helping me to sew clothes for my dolls with needle and cotton; and then later on as a teenager; to sew clothes for myself using the sewing machine.

When I gained a daughter of my own, I wanted to make clothes for her Barbie doll, but couldn't find many sewing and knitting patterns for barbie-type dolls, so I began learning design concepts and away I was ... designing my own!

Just in recent years, my brother has been teaching me how to use computers and showing me web building programs; which has got me interested in learning the basics of html. It is a lot of fun to be able to design your own website from simply using notepad. Learning html and css gives alot of freedom to display things exactly how you want to, but it does mean taking the time out to learn. It's a BIG thanks to my brother for all his encouragement and the time he has given me!

I hope you enjoy knitting up (and sewing up) my patterns as much as I have enjoyed thinking them up. I have worked on making them as simple as I can get them for learners to understand and follow.

I have posted quite a few free knitting and sewing patterns that you can make up for any Barbie-type doll. They are simple and easy to make. You will find that you can alter them very easily. I am sure they will make lovely gifts for any little girl and you will find them a great way for you to help raise funds for your favourite charities: Just read my disclaimer at the foot of this page. Have fun! :).

Happy knitting and sewing!
